What is it? 

Functional skills are qualifcations based on 100% internally assessed tests in English, Maths and ICT. Students can achieve at Entry Level 1, 2 or 3. Occasionally we have students who will also work towards Level 1 in an area. 

Who is it for? 

• Learners who may find it difficult to access GCSE qualifications
• Learners with learning difficulties
• Adult returners.

Which students at Welcombe Hills do Functional Skills?

Pupils following the formal curriculum undertake Functional Skills English, Maths and ICT qualifications.

Pupils folloiwng the semi-formal curriculum who have the capability to undertake a Functional Skills qualification at Entry Level 1 in one or more areas are also expected to do so.
