Artsmark Awards

We are extremely happy to announce that we are in receipt of our Platinum Artsmark Award, this is due to our long term and very successful engagement with the RSC on our Associate Schools programme. This will make a huge impact on our school community. It honours all the work we have done as a school to enrich our student’s cultural and creative education.

We also have been awarded an Artsmark Gold Award.

Our Statement of Commitment and Statement of Impact have been assessed and we’re pleased to share this feedback from the assessors:

'There is no doubt the arts are deeply valued at Welcombe Hills School. You have had an established Arts Team in place for twelve years and offer a number of accredited arts-based programmes for your older students. You have not allowed staffing changes, turbulence caused by Covid or the process of joining a MAT become barriers to achieving your ambitions. Your many long term and successful partnerships have had very positive impact on outcomes for your students and staff. Having been a Lead RSC Associate School for five years as part of the RSC Associate Programme has clearly provided many new and exciting opportunities for your students such as being able to perform on the RSC stage and some of the Sixth Formers taking part in the RSC Internship Programme prior to Covid restrictions and, how fantastic to partner with the RSC and Samsung to win the 2020 BETT Collaboration Prize. What an achievement! The partnership with Compton Verney Art Gallery has resulted in some of your students working with artists and designers to produce works of art for display at the Gallery. It was good to read how the Arts bring the whole school community together. Shrek the Musical created a strong sense of community as everyone was involved by being a member of the audience or working backstage or performing. The partnership with Longborough Opera Company is providing further opportunities for your students to see more live performances such as Hansel and Gretel.'
