Welcombe Hills School

"Working together to do our best"

Head's Welcome

It is a pleasure to welcome you to Welcombe Hills, a 3 – 19 special needs school in Stratford upon Avon, which is part of the Unity MAT. Our school has two separate sites: the main site on Blue Cap Road, and our Hub on Drayton Avenue, which is mainly 16-19 year old students.

We are an inclusive school with a team of staff who have the specialist knowledge and skills to meet the needs of our students. Our school is classed as a 'broad-spectrum generic' SEN school and includes students who have a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities: however all students must have a learning difficulty as their main barrier to learning.

Statement of Ethos and Values

At Welcombe Hills, we are committed to providing the best possible education for our students within a caring, friendly and safe environment. We are passionate about providing meaningful and challenging learning experiences that promote personal development, communication and independence.

Ethos

The culture at Welcombe Hills is based on everyone (pupils, families and staff) feeling included, respected and safe; where everyone's contributions are valued and encouraged and achievements are collectively celebrated.

Our school motto is 'Working together to do our best' and partnership work at all levels: within school, with our families, with other Professionals and our community links, with our shared vision of preparing our pupils for life beyond Welcombe Hills is the foundation of our school.

Values

  • Respect
  • Integrity
  • Collaboration

We focus on holistic development through a flexible curriculum which has been personalised to meet every individual’s learning needs and style. There is a wide range of expertise throughout school, from our highly skilled teachers and teaching assistants to a range of learning support teams offering therapies, including: nurture, hydrotherapy, sensory processing and communication support. Our teachers lead their class teams using shared learning goals that are informed by families, therapists and multi-agency support teams.

As Head, I feel privileged to be leading a highly committed team of staff who are dedicated, knowledgeable, caring and full of enthusiasm. Our staff work together to provide a curriculum and learning environment that engage, motivates and enthuse our young learners to prepare them for Life beyond school. At Welcombe Hills, we aim to provide a safe and happy place where our students can become more independent and where they can learn to communicate and thrive within their local community.

Welcombe Hills is part of Unity Multi Academy Trust (MAT), alongside Brooke School in Rugby and Woodlands School in Coleshill. Brooke and Woodlands are also all age, broad-sprectrum Special schools.
