WHASPS (Summer Club)

Welcombe Hills Activities for Special People (WHASPS)

During the first three weeks of the school summer holidays we run a summer activity scheme for the students of Welcombe Hills.

The scheme was originally set up as we recognised parents needed time in the summer holidays with their other children doing things that are not always possible with a special needs child and that our students need to be given the chance to do things with their friends too.

The scheme is organised and run by school staff with help from students who have worked on the scheme before. FOWHS (Friends of Welcombe Hills School) help fund the scheme.

The kind of activities we offer are:

  • Cooking
  • Swimming
  • Sports
  • Sensory for PMLD students
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Trips out to All Things Wild, Redwings Horse Sanctuary, Twycross Zoo, Mary Ardens Farm, St Nicholas Park in Warwick and Fairytale Farm
