Pine Class Activities
Pine Class have had a productive start to the year, all the pupils have settled in well and are demonstrating a positive attitude towards work.
Our topic this term is Charities and Helping Others. Pupils have researched a wide range of charities using the internet and visited a number of charity shops in Stratford. We have participated in a charity day with all the KS3 classes which has enabled us to raise funds for specific charities. In R.E. we have studied the story of The Good Samaritan and are currently working on a class performance of a modern version which we are hoping to film and show in assembly early next year.
The literacy text we are currently studying is Oliver Twist. Pupils enjoy listening to the story, watching the DVD and completing worksheets related to each chapter. Other literacy work has included poetry, newspaper articles and letter writing.
Maths work has included number systems, addition, subtraction and data handling. Pupils are always enthusiastic to practise money skills when purchasing healthy snacks at the supermarket.
Geography has involved studying rivers. We all enjoyed watching reports of David Walliams Thames swim in September and feel fortunate to be able to regularly consolidate classroom studies with trips to the River Avon where we are able to observe features of the river.
P.E. continues to be very popular – everyone is improving their rugby skills – although passing a ball backwards is proving quite a challenge.
