Introduction

The curriculum is supported by enrichment activities.  These are organised both in and out of school to enhance pupils’ understanding and enjoyment of learning and to promote their sense of well being and achievement.

We provide a range of therapies for our pupils with complex needs.  These include: music therapy, rebound therapy and hydrotherapy.

To support pupils’ understanding of the world of work and life beyond school, we invite professional artists and members of the community to lessons to talk about their work and share their skills.  We include, as part of our pupils’ learning experience, trips to theatres and art galleries, use of community leisure and sport facilities and planned residential visits which reflect the pupils’ progressuion through school.  Pupils familiarise themselves with local shops, amenities and public transport and practice their independent living skills in preparation for adulthood.

We have a strong PE department where physical development and team building skills are enhanced through the many competitions pupils are encouraged to take part in with other schools.  We offer a wide range of sporting activities including football, trampolining, boccia, tennis, cricket, dance and athletics.

School clubs are run both in the lunch hour and after school.  These include: sports clubs, tennis, multi-sports wheelchair club, junior multi-sports and ‘Step into Sport’, which includes pupils from mainstream schools.  Our Creative Arts clubs include: art, choir, recorder, school band and drama.
