All pupils at Welcombe Hills School have the opportunity to be included in the wider community, sharing facilities, expertise and working alongside peers from as wide a spectrum as possible. Opportunities could include play sessions, links with mainstream schools and colleges, work experience and educational visits.
Our inclusion links can take different forms and can include an individual placement when a pupil may attend their local school for sessions, or an inclusion opportunity into another class within Welcombe Hills School.
A small group of pupils may attend a local mainstream school for activities on a regular basis or mainstream pupils may join sessions at Welcombe Hills. Key stage 2 and 3 classes have a ‘buddy’ class within a local primary or secondary school. The curriculum in Key Stage 4 and 5 includes numerous opportunities to integrate into the local community, for example work experience.
Pupils may be involved in uniquely designed inclusion projects between Welcombe Hills and other schools/institutions that foster collaboration and cooperation through engaging activities for example art, music, drama, dance and P.E. This could be an individual project or an annual event.
As a school we have many inclusive links and we endeavour to ensure that all pupils have opportunities to integrate into the wider community.
